2011-2012 nhl season... Get ready puckheads

Hey, hope we can get some good hockey talk going this season. Things are getting ready to roll next week. In between Sunday afternoons, counting off the Raider victories, how about your thoughts on ice. Personally, I'm getting ready to purchase NHL Center Ice so I can get all my beloved Detroit RedWings games from the comfort of my livingroom couch. I'm in Bruins country and they are looking to raise their banner and pick up right where they left off last year. They have kept most of their team intact, so it should be a good one. Who do you like this year?

I'm ready for it. I seen that the Red Wing rookie has been suspended for the first five games I believe. Also am looking forward to seeing Jagr play.

Yah, I saw Brendan Smith got 5 games. It seems to me there have been a huge amount of suspensions handed out already and we're still in the preseason. I guess Brendan Shannahan is coming out quick and making a statement that the league is going to get strict with the head shots.

For any Comcast cable subscribers, NHL Center Ice is running a free preview starting 10/6 and running through 10/30. Most carriers run 10 or 12 NHL game channels. Early-bird special is 4 payments of $42.00. I just signed up yesterday, can't wait.

I got to watch the Bruins-Flyers game last night and see the Bruins banner get raised to the rafters...it was a pretty awesome ceremony and just goes to remind you of what a special honor winning a championship in any sport can be and to leave your mark for the ages. I have to say, Im not a fan of all Boston sports, but they sure know how to throw a championship ceremony. By the way, Jagr notched his 1,600th point last night to help down the Bruins. He looked pretty good after spending the last few years in Russia.

Shanahan for sure is not playing around. He said in an interview that of all the people that he knows how a cheap shot to the head is given and knows when it is un-intentional,. The intentional head shots will come with a suspension.

Dam, in a battle of undefeated teams last night, the Wings and Capitals faced off in D.C. . I was really looking forward to watching a good hockey game. The Red Wings got schooled! 7-1. Caps made a statement last night. I at least thought with the game out of reach, play would get a little more chippy but the Wings went down weakly.
