Nice to see a lot of new posters in here. Welcome to everybody! We've seen what a rookie coach with an average QB and a great defense is capable of doing in just one season. Look right across the Bay to San Francisco. We are not that far away right now from turning this thing around with some quality people coming in with Madden, Wolf and McKenzie calling the shots.

Lose your starting qb,rb,and for a handful of games multiple starting receivers. No matter what team or what head coach thats a recipe for disaster. Fans complain about the bad play-calling? Get serious thats what the man did. I saw an instant jump in offensive production when he came aboard.Did he always call the right plays? Uhhhh no, obviously. Its a constant chess game between defensive and offensive playcalling...

The penalties are a major concern. How is this a reflection of Hue? Its a reflection of the intellect,focus,self-discipline,and team loyalty of the players involved! SIMPLE! Raiders have always had gifted and talented players...But seldom smart and talented. Can Hue make Stanford Routt defend receivers with his feet and body instead of his hands? Can Hue make Tommy Kelly not jump offsides and watch the ball he's lined up across, literally less than 2 feet from? The infractions are player based...has nothing to do with coaching. The players need to be held responsible. If Oakland were to start fining players 10k per infraction, bet they'd decrease.

Coaches are always the scapegoat. There's alot worse coaches out there to replace Hue I have plenty of confidence that we will find a way to pick one up,not to mention the sucess Hue has had with quarterbacks in the past... look where he took Campbell. Instilled the confidence he needed to go out, protect the ball, manage the clock, and win. 8-8 isnt bad for a team with a sloppy defense, quarterback debacle, runningback debacle, and multiple receiver debacles in a single year....geesh we must have obviously expected Jesus's return!
Welcome to the site... good first post. So, let me challenge you for a minute on one point! I agree with the majority of what you said but lets talk about accountability for a second. Hue screwed up his own authority with the players when he essentially lied about the best players playing. If this were the case, Derrick Hagan would have been playing ahead of Chaz Schilens and Sterling Moore would have made the team.

Second Hue lost all credibility when he allowed Rolondo (.38 Cal ) to play after making an ass out of himself and his team mates. So, Hue had good effects in some area's and bad in others. The truth is he made some bad decisions and he handled the personnel problems badly.

You're correct with the 50/50 assessment. The point is we could trade the pick for more picks later. Late in the draft is where we do our best work. So, yes trading the picks away gutted the draft!

Put me in as one of them.
The more Hue speaks the more of a control freak he sounds like. What was the point of bringing in Saunders if he was not going to be involved in play calling? Control freak!!

I guess we see why Hue wanted more control now huh?

Let me start by saying welcome to the board and there are several of us here that are new. That said I cannot see how anyone not related to Jackson being shocked by what I consider a a good decision to let him go. You can do a search on this site and see posts from me being critical of him and wanting an upgrade at head coach going back to mid season. I will not retype the long list of reasons I think lead to him being fired. It has not been popular with many but the new guy in charge agreed with me and I am very happy about that. That is the cool thing about places like this. We can cuss and discuss our favorite team and we will not always agree except that we want the Silver and Black to return to greatness. This board is taking off and that is something else I hoped for when I joined. R8ers has a good thing going and I am willing to donate (R8ers if you are reading contact me) anyway welcome and we can always agree to disagree

Agree here. Why in the world was Hagan released? Obviously we don't have a huge body of work to judge him on, but when we did see him, all he did was catch nearly every ball thrown his way. T.J. is an average, aging receiver who needed a while to learn the plays and mesh with the team. This was never going to happen at that point in the season. Bad move here. A bad decision, but I wouldn't point to this as a good reason to fire him.

I guess I'm ol' school. Who cares? Not even the police. It's a misdemeanor offense. The coach, the team, heck....not even the NFL found a good reason to suspend him. And lets face it, the Raiders have always given a player a second chance. This incident is next to nothing. And I'm guessing the "victims" story is 50% BS. He probably wants to get a nice healthy payday from an NFL millionaire. Wouldn't be the first time now would it?

How big of a slap in the face is it to have Hue go be an assistant with the team he gave riches to for Palmer?

Dont get me wrong i like Palmer and i think he has a shot at coming back strong but honestly i am irritated at this whole situation and the fact that now as a team we look even dumber. We have been getting raped in trades for years by the Pats and all but damn now the Bengals are getting in on the action

I just hope McKenzie and Allen can make us respectable again.

As Hue Jack said when the Palmer trade happened: "this is the "GREATEST" trade in football."

It turned out great for him because he gave up a 1st and 2nd round pick for Palmer, and a security blanket in case he couldn't back up his own words as Raiders HC.

Lots of folks are speculating that Marvin Lewis will be looking over his shoulder in case he doesn't deliver, and that why would he hire his potential "replacement." I don't think this hire was a Lewis hire, but more of a Brown hire.
