Wow. I thought Herrera would be around as long as Mark Davis and Trask were in the building. I'm not sure why he got the hate from everybody that he did. After all, he was pretty loyal for over 40 years and he loved to f--k with the media. The surprise to me was that it wasn't McKenzie's call. What's next, a change to the logo?

I'm getting nervous wondering if this clean slate we're starting off with will be more "off-field" than on. Herrera is dismissed and on the same day, we bring in Brandon Underwood, twice arrested for domestic wifey no-nos. Not sure this is the kind of guy or attitude we need to change the mindset of our players on the field. Oh well.

I don't know about everyone else, but I didn't like Herrera because he represented the wacky side of the organization ( Al Davis ). Some of the announcements were just flat embarrassing. He was definitely loyal, but the only way the organization can gain respect and credibility is to get rid of all the things that were obviously wrong. There are going to be moves that are not fair but the moves have to be made. The move to pick up Underwood bothered me too.
Willie Brown and the scouts have to go too!!!!
Not sure how i feel on this. Honestly it does not bother me that much. I mean it does suck but as we have all said we know changes are coming.
Now what about this other guy being hired i havent really seen anything on it because i was out of town the last few days.
Here is an article from Jerry Mac that brings a good perspective.
Herrera wasn’t the problem - Inside the Oakland Raiders - A look inside the world of the highly classified Oakland Raiders from the writers of Bay Area News Group
“If King Kong and I went into an alley only one of us would come out, and it wouldn't be the ****ing monkey.

Great article. Jerry pretty much nailed it and you guys are right. I guess it just seems we are losing a little bit of the personality that made "us" the "Raiders" all these years. Al Locasale, Run Run Jones, now Herrara. Changing of the guard, I guess. Herrara went out with pure class. I will remember him sobbing in the background, along with the rest of the team, listening to Hue's Texans post-game speech. He gave his heart and soul to the team and had Al Davis' back when it came to the mediots, and if he ever reads the boards, I thank him and wish him well.

Bouty i agree with you. It sucks that this is happening but it has needed to happen. I didnt think he would get the axe or choose to retire as it has been mentioned on other places. Either way we may not have liked a lot of what he had to say but we all know this man was truly loyal through it all. Good Luck to where ever his life leads
