I use to be a big NASCAR fan, never missed a race, went to a few in person. I didn't know any of the drivers except for Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough, and the Allisons. I seen a black and silver car and it was driven by Dale Earnhardt. I decided that I would follow him because (you guessed it , Raider colors). Then people told me that he was a dirty driver, he cheats, he drives way too hard and is nicknamed the Intimidator. I thought, that is perfect. I thought of the Raiders again. Earnhardt was feared by everyone on the track. I thought of Alzado first. lol Anyway, Al Davis' death reminded me of when Earnhardt was killed, I seen the wreck but just couldn't believe it. My thought was, Al and Dale were just alike, aggressive, commited to winning at all cost, either loved or hated, if you said their first names everyone knew who you were talking about, their colors were silver and black, Dale was the # 3 car and Al had 3 Super Bowl championships. Interesting. Another thing, they both were legends in their field.

I wrote the following comment below on the 8th the day before the game ,and look how the game ended. Wow

" I bet the lord is wearing Silver and Black and wearing a patch over one eye in your honor and the other looking down at the RAIDER game " .

I never met nor knew the man. I knew ABOUT who he is, and I had an IDEA of who he is as a Raider fan. As a kid learning about football and getting ready to follow the sport, my first impression of Mr Davis was the question "WHY?" Why did he move the Raiders out of Oakland? It goes beyond "business" decision, but to this day we'll never get the complete answer.

What I do know about Mr Davis is that he was the type who tends to say and do what he says he'll do. He moved out of Oakland to L.A. when both Oakland and the NFL told him "no." (And I felt "no" too) He moved back to Oakland when the NFL, L.A. and even San Francisco said "NO." (Does anyone remember the argument between him and Carmen Policy before the move?) He may not have won the "2 more Super Bowls before stepping down," yet he didn't step down when so many including those in The Nation insisted that he should step down. He pretty much had complete control of the team until THIS MORNING. Hell, the only team to abstain from ratifying the most current agreement ending the lockout. That's Al.

Oakland may have had a love/hate relationship with Mr Davis and justifiably so. However, Oakland can and should benefit from Mr Davis' "maverick" ways so it could become a city to contend with. In other words, what you personally perceive as "Al Davis," I could contend that not only is there an "Al Davis" within us all, but bringing that part of us out could create dividends within our respected lives.
This is spot on....Sorry I was a little late in replying....2 thumbs up for Mr.Freeze
